I Love You

I’m writing this letter to tell you how glad I am that you are in the world.

Your life, your choices, your experiences have given you a unique way of looking at the world, of feeling about things that I don’t and will never see anywhere else. And you can’t mess that up. It just is. No matter what, you are valuable, important, and lovable.

Do feel free to pursue your goals and dreams, to learn and grow and become, to love and own yourself. You decide if you want to shed what doesn’t work for you and try on anything that will make you healthier and happier.

You are living artwork. Maybe you don’t fit into a defined shape, a smooth circle, an easy square, but you know what? You’re an intricate, organic person with fascinating and human facets that give you beautiful depth.

I want you to know that I support you, that your feelings, (whether hopeful, happy, sad, worried, angry, anxious, or depressed) your needs, your wants, the whole spectrum, these things are good. They tell you who you are, how to get what you want, how to relate to others. Feel free to come to know them, to accept them, to explore them, to manage the ones that are unruly. This is a safe, “let’s understand” zone for you to let go and let soar.

You look great! You smiling is a beautiful thing. So is you laughing, and dancing, and doing anything else that feels good. When you’re passionate about something, it lights up your face. The little details and mannerisms that make you you give you a lovable, attractive depth.

You are strong and powerful. You persevere, you try, you become. If you can’t see it, know that you already have the things you want inside of you, in what you love and admire, in how you feel, in what you fight.

I believe in you. I love you.

*** This letter is a companion to my book that explores many obstacles to us feeling these ways about ourselves and little tips to try to fix it. If you’re interested in that, you can find my book in various formats here: I Love You, An Inspirational Book. If not, I hope this letter made you feel good.
